Recognition by Food Waste Collection Scheme
The Group has more than 70 brands, with outlets spreading across Hong Kong. We adopt various approaches for food waste management and surplus collection. We have been working with NGOs and donating surplus bread to those in need for over a decade. As of today, 5.8 million of bread items were rescued and donated. In recent years, recycling of cooking oil and food waste are some of the best practices. This November, the Group and our 29 outlets were recognized in “EPD Pilot Scheme on Food Waste Collection” and “ECF Source Separation and Collection of Food Waste for the Food and Beverage Trade” respectively for our proactive participation. To ease the burden of landfill, we continuously strive to implement source separation and collection of food waste at our restaurants.

Fully Support the “Clean Plate Challenge”
Maxim’s Group started our food waste reduction partnership with local green group from 2008 and participated in the “Less rice for $1 Less” Scheme. 3 years ago, we launched a clean plate campaign and encourage customers to reduce food waste with us. This year, from 14 November to 11 December, more than 120 restaurants from 15 brands under the Group participate in the “Clean Plate Challenge” jointly organised by the Environmental Campaign Committee, Environmental Protection Department and Food Wise Hong Kong, with the aim of motivating our customers to learn more about cherishing food and practising “Food Minimalism” in our everyday life.

Special Ordering Reduction Award in Umbrella Bags Reduction Accreditation Program
Greeners Action has been organizing the “Umbrella Bags Reduction Accreditation Program” since 2017 and becomes a powerful force leading the market to embark on the journey of “zero umbrella bags”. Maxim’s Group has joined the program since 2018, placing umbrella dryers in the lobby of our Headquarters Maxim’s Centre on rainy days and not giving out umbrella bags. To appreciate our effort, the Group was awarded the Special Ordering Reduction Award as well as the Diamond Award this year.
